Flowers made with heart!

I had so much fun this morning creating these cards!  And what a clever technique!  I had signed up for a class by Lisa Spangler on Big Picture Classes.  https://www.bigpictureclasses.com/  Lisa shows how you can make big flowers from small heart stamps!  I love this idea!  And to think I have already invested in so many large flower stamps that now hurt my hands to press!  I think these cards came out pretty well, despite the fact that they were my first attempts at this technique!  and they look like the flowers I made from Hero Arts large flower stamps that I pictured on the heading of my blog!

I used some older Hero Arts stamps to make these cards.  I have no idea what stamps I used because I have unmounted all my wood stamps and have them on cling mount.  The two cards at the left were stamped with the same bold heart stamp.  The only difference between them is the spacing.  I used a 1 1/8" circle to space out the larger flower, and I used a 1" circle to space the smaller flower.  I used Clearsnap Orchid Pastel chalk ink for both.  The smaller flower is actually stamped on the card front.  The larger flower I cut out and attached to a card front.  The accent papers were from Confetti Birthday pad from DCWV.  The stamped circle sentiment is from Paper Smooches Spiritual Sentiments stamp set.  Inside the card says,  "on your birthday and always" that I printed on the computer.

The card at the right used the hearts in an overlapping manner.  I stamped using a Clearsnap pink pigment pad and then cut out and colored the flower with water based markers.  The center of this flower is actually a fussy cut flower from another printed paper, from Magenta.   I  think the vintage papers I chose for the background (Hobby Lobby) complement the vintage colors I chose for the flower.

I had one teeny problem making these cards.  You see, I ran out of tape runner.  And I am loathe to buy more.  It is so expensive!  So I used a lot of glue to put these cards together, and I have to practice!  I got glue everywhere!  I am thankful for my Tombow Mono sand eraser that helped with erasing some of the most obvious glops.

Thank you, Lisa and Big Picture Classes for a fun technique!  I will have fun making some more cards!

Candy Box for You!

Above is my cute candy box card I made from Inky Antics "You're Sweet" clear stamp set, which I picked up at Hobby Lobby.

Here is a link to see the set online:

I actually got the idea for the 3D box from Yainea.  Here is a link to her wonderful card and video:

She used the"Donut Worry" stamp set from Lawn Fawn.  (Very yummy--I have purchased this also.)

I decided to make a box for candy.  I used her instructions to make the 3D box and then stamped the candies in shades of pink and brown chalk inks from Clearsnap.  I accented the candies with Stickles and decided to make it a Get Well card.

This Inky Antics stamp set is part of a series that feature a "scratch-off" motif.  While I didn't use this feature on my card, I think it would be very fun to receive a "scratch-off" card.

Best of luck to you all, and may you all be well!

We all Scream for Ice Cream!

I love my new Hero Arts Ice Cream Layering Stamp!  Plus, I am in the mood lately for ice cream.  I have decided to have ice cream rather than cake for the September birthdays at church, and I think I will have the children offer the toppings for the ice cream.  For some reason we haven't had our annual ice cream social so this will be a good substitute.

For the card above, I stamped the cone in Clearsnap Chestnut Roan chalk ink and added the details with Clearsnap Dark Brown chalk ink.  I stamped the ice cream itself in Clearsnap Orchid and Lime chalk inks and added details with Clearsnap Pinkolicious and Grasshopper Archival Dye inks.  I did not purchase the coordinating dies for this stamp set, but the cones and ice creams were easy to cut out by hand.  I must have made about 20 ice cream birthday cards!

The kraft background oval die is from Spellbinders.   I nearly had a heart attack embossing the oval kraft die in my Tim Holtz Vagabond machine--I must have used too thick of a sandwich and nearly got stuck--I only was successful by pressing the Go button every little bit, letting the machine rest between presses, and little by little, inch by inch I did get the sandwich to move until all was clear--close call, that one!  I will have to be really careful of my sandwich in future.

I stenciled the confetti background from a Hero Arts plastic stencil onto white card with regular Dreamweaver's embossing paste and then added color with Tsukineko pigment ink cubes.   A little bit of Prismaglitter later and a cherry on top completed my Happy Birthday Ice Cream cone card!

You can't see the inside of the card in this photo, but I also filled the inside of the card with ice cream cone, too!

Now, let's have some ice cream!

Dauber Fun

Last week I tried a technique that was showcased on the Hero Arts blog.  Here is a link to the original post:    http://heroarts.com/blogs/club/page/4/

But it is difficult for me to use the distress inks with the ink applicator these days due to neck and arm problems, so I decided to use daubers instead.

I first stamped a panel with a sentiment from Our Daily Bread (Thank you, Donna, for the loan of these stamps!) using Clearsnap fluid chalk ink.

I then masked the sentiment with a rectangle of Eclipse masking tape.  (You could also use a post it note.)

I then stamped a Hero Arts large cling stamp pattern (I used large Lotus blossom) using white pigment ink and white embossing powder over the mask.

Keeping the mask in place, I then rubbed a liquid ink dauber over the embossing to color the background paper.  Let dry, and then remove the mask and attach the panel to a notecard.

You can see in the picture above (the blue one) that my first attempt at this technique was not really successful.  The background stamp I chose for this one was not bold enough.  The technique works better with a bold print background stamp.

Here are the color combinations I liked best:

Lipstick Red chalk ink paired with Fired Brick Tim Holtz dauber.
Yellow Citrus chalk ink paired with Mustard Seed Tim Holtz dauber
Warm Green chalk ink paired with Peeled Paint Tim Holtz dauber

Denami Blog Hop: Summer

Welcome to the Summer DeNami Blog Hop!  You should have arrived here from Lisa's blog at  http://mypapertales.blogspot.com/.  If you get lost during the hop you can always start at the beginning: http://www.denami.blogspot.com/

I thought this would make a super "Have a great vacation" card.  I stamped the shirt three times on Basic Grey patterned paper with Colorbox pigment inks in various colors and then heat embossed them.  The palm tree is stamped in green and brown Colorbox and heat embossed then colored in with green and brown pigment inks with the Colorbox stylus and heat embossed again to set the inks.
The background for the large 5" x 6 1/4" card is covered with square "tiles" of various colors of Basic Grey cardstock.  The tiny tiki hut was stamped with Memento brown ink down the center tiles.  After adhering the shirts and pine tree I computer generated the sentiment and printed it on Basic Grey yellow card, added a tiki hut and a fish brad.
Are you packed for your vacation yet?

Now it's time to visit Linda at:   http://creatingingodsimage.blogspot.com/
