Outlines Challenge Card: St. Patrick's Day
This week the challenge at Outlines Rubber stamps is to make a card with a St. Patrick's Day theme. Here is the original blog post: http://outlineswithkathy.blogspot.com/2012/02/challenge-41-st-patricks-day.html?showComment=1330578209788#c6188998708839123980 I do not have any of the absolutely darling St. Patrick's Day stamps (hint: I need to win so I can get some!), so I used a couple of the bleach cards instead. I stamped the flower stamps onto white card with Pearlescent Thyme Brilliance ink. I like the delicate shimmer this ink gives. I layered them onto some dark green card (yes, I know it looks a little black in the picture!) I then added a St. Patrick's Day greeting in white gel pen and embellished with ribbon and a flower. I did stamp one of the Outlines bold border stamps and layered those stampings onto the side and bottom of the card for balance.
This cutie was made on a whim. I cut the background from green card using the Cricut Cartridge Paper Lace 2. I thought it needed some pizzazz so I ran it upside down through my xyron and glittered it green. I avoided a lot of the "tackiness" of the xyron in the little circular areas by pressing the areas with a stylus before removing the piece from the release paper. I then added the Outlines flowers stamped onto white card, popping up each layer. As a final treat, I covered all the swirl lines of the stamped image with green Smooch paint. Thank you to Ann for providing the cute ribbon sentiment!

ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful, Jane! I love the glitter on the second creation, and I absolutely ADORE the first creation. Loving the green and white.
ReplyDeleteLoving all the shades of green, especially the lighter greens on the first card... so soft! Beautiful cards! Thanks for joining us at Outlines!
ReplyDeleteHi Jane, Love your glitter background in green! Perfect St. Patrick card it is!
ReplyDeleteThese are wonderful! Especially love the glittery one. Congrats on your win!
ReplyDeleteA very beautiful & creative card ! Very deserving of the win, even if it's a draw ! Congrats! Shirley
ReplyDeleteJust love the flower card. I am still trying to figure out how you used the Thyme ink since the flowers are while. I would love to see what the stamp looks like. very pretty!
ReplyDeleteThis particular type of stamp was made by Outlines for a "bleach" effect, so the flowers are recessed. The flowers would stay white when stamped on white card, with only the surrounding area green. I guess this is what you call a "reverse" stamp, where a lot of rubber surrounds a central recessed design. The Outlines stamps I used were Daisy Burst Md, #E198 and Daisy Burst Lg, #I197. You can see the stamps on the Outlines Rubber Stamp website. I hope this helps.
